You can still do the Anaxmod to tame the 5-6k peak if your ears are sensitive to it. Measurements for the new 3xxxx digit serial number units show some slight subtle variance with the hot treble peak (but still no doubt a bright sounding headphone) compared to the older units (in a good way). Apparently its a demo model from addicted to audio and comes with warranty etc.
The unit is actually in 9000's serial number. Don't bother spending money on older units unless it's priced half of what a new HD800 goes for ($1500 MSRP) and is not abused in excellent to mint condition.
